Microstructural and thermal characterization of concretes prepared with the addition of raw and milled fly ashes

The influences of mechanically activated fly ash on the microstructure and thermal behaviour atmospheric-cured concrete panels have been evaluated. For this purpose, comparative analyses concretes prepared with without addition raw milled ashes were performed. was an attrition mill for 1 h. Cylindrical specimens 20% substitution large same compositions prepared. Mechanical properties measured after 3, 7, 28 days, 2 4 months. After preparation cylindrical cured in water while kept open atmosphere outside building year. 28-day compressive strengths non-fly added specimen 61.1 MPa, 54.4 64.7 respectively. Microstructural studies panel performed core drilled year curing. strength 26.6, 25.4 35.9 MPa added, panels. A beneficial pozzolanic reaction improved mechanical ash-substituted under harsh weather conditions observed determined by differential analysis-thermogravimetry mercury intrusion porosimetry. Improved indicates its potential applicability industrial practice due to simplicity process.
